That's right; we're tied up in Atlantic City for the night after an extremely long, exhausting day motorsailing down the Jersey Coast. We left Sandy Hook before 7 AM and arrived at the Atlantic City Coast Guard Station (we have friends in high places, which is to say my dad is a Master Chief and has some pull) just after 10 PM. It was our first time being underway at night, and the stress level was high. It didn't help that I lost my lunch earlier in the evening--good thing we hadn't gotten around to dinner yet--after spending a bit to much time below decks, and all I wanted to do was curl up and fall asleep wherever possible. Nevertheless, we made it safe and sound and with just enough energy to spare for a visit to a casino owned by one Mr. Trump. Jeremy and I dined on sub-par, overpriced food (while my dad's snoring kept intruders off the boat) and frittered away $5 on slot machines. So much for winning big and funding a second year of cruising.
Tomorrow will see us leaving the dock at around 7 AM and finishing up the last 36 miles of the coast. We'll plan to spend the afternoon and night in Cape May before tackling the Delaware Bay and winding up in Baltimore. And now, we sleep!
Going through the Dismal Swamp in January snow is fun, too.
